LED remote

The main lighting of the van consists of the adressable RGBW LED-strips. The strips are switched on and off by switching the power supply on or off. However, some nice lighting features can be programmed into the van and this asks for a nice remote.

The remote is actually a small wooden box with 5 sliders, three control buttons and an on/off switch. The first four sliders can be used to set the value of red, green, blue and white. A fifth slider controls velocity which is an extra parameter which can be used in pre-programmed effects.

There is a mode+ and a mode- button, used to scroll through the predefined modes of the LED controller. Lastly there is an on/off mode which is similar to a black-out button.

The wooden box is created using a laser cutter, which is a nice way to design and build simple constructions. The drawing consists of two parts, one for cutting and one for engraving, making the final design very easy and neatly.

In this picture, the interior of the remote is shown. The internal controller is a ESP32 module, which reads the buttons and sliders and generates a ARTNET protocol based signal which it sends over WIFI. The remote has a lithium battery which can be charged with USB.
